Abstract

Article 31 of Law Number 13 of 2012 respecting the Special Status of the Special Region of Yogyakarta contains provisions pertaining to cultural preservation and development initiatives, one of which is the growth of culture-based tourism. Selarong Cave, located in Guwosari Village, is strongly linked to Prince Diponegoro's battle. These cultural and historical artifacts have the potential to be transformed into a tourist destination that is packaged as a pilgrimage tourism idea. Finding the potential and preparedness of supporting infrastructure for the growth of pilgrimage tourism in Tanah Mataram Guwosari Village is the goal of this study. This study employs a qualitative research methodology, and its findings are presented in a descriptive manner. The government, the community, tourists, and tourism management components are among the research participants. Because of the Selarong Cave object's religious and symbolic value, authenticity, historical and cultural appeal, and highly capable natural environmental support, the research findings suggest that pilgrimage tourism may be a viable alternative for sustaining the fervor of tourism activities. It is necessary to upgrade the facilities for pilgrimage tourism-specific activities.
